A Day For The Old Folk
Senior citizens from Rai and Havelock have been enjoying a regular social occasion with a fringe benefit, a hot dinner, since April. With the backing of the Red Cross, volunteer workers have driven old folk to the Havelock Hall for a hot meal. During summer this was once a fortnight and in winter, monthly. The service was organised by the Rai District Nurse, Miss M. Ruddle.
A visitor to the dinner recently was Miss R. Simpson, director of V.A.D. for N.Z., here speaking to Miss H. R. Aikman and Mrs M. F. Ritchie, who is 95
Enjoying their meal are V. G. Wells and E. H. Looms
There's always plenty of help with the dishes. Hard at work are Mesdames D. Donald, N. Price, D. Jones and I. Anderson
Cooks for the day were Mrs F. J. King and Sylvia Ritchie
Also enjoying the dinner were Mrs and Mr J. Price and Mr P. Mills, who is 90
