A Day For The Old Folk

Senior citizens from Rai and Havelock have been enjoying a regular social occasion with a fringe benefit, a hot dinner, since April. With the backing of the Red Cross, volunteer workers have driven old folk to the Havelock Hall for a hot meal. During summer this was once a fortnight and in winter, monthly. The service was organised by the Rai District Nurse, Miss M. Ruddle.

Also enjoying the dinner were Mrs and Mr J. Price and Mr P. Mills, who is 90

Mrs J. Ashford and Mrs R. I. Brown are from Havelock and Mr James Cook is from Moenui Bay

Among the old folk were Mesdames A. M. Simmons, M. Newman and G. Templeman

Sweets are served up to Miss H. R. Aikman by Mrs T. Slape

Officials at the dinner included Mrs M. Smith (vice-president of Havelock sub-centre of Red Cross), Miss M. Ruddle (Rai District Nurse), Miss Simpson, Mrs M. Gosling (centre commandant of V.A.D. of Marlborough) and Mrs H. Ensor
