Three Nelson athletes were recipients of Hale Memorial awards for outstanding performances in the Wellington centre. The presentations were made to Bill Coppins (marathon), Rod Dixon (track and cross-country) and Francis Silke (sprinting) by Mr G. W. Jackman, chairman of the Wellington Centre of N.Z.A.A.A. and treasurer of the N.Z.A.A.A.
