Deerstalkers' Get-Together

The Nelson branch of the New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association held its annual dinner and prize giving recently and this was followed by a cabaret. Hunting tales galore, some got away, others didn't, were told and the mounted heads on the walls were probably "re-bagged" many times over during the night.

The trophy winners were, in front, Steve Thurlon (1st and 2nd Nelson, and 3rd in NZ in Chamois), Adrian Terry (junior aggregate), Alan Drummond (most improved junior), Gary Lusty (colour slide of native bird and best Red deer shot in NZ by a Nelson member), Paul Borcovsky (grand aggregate), Mostyn Ching (1st equal handicap aggregate), and Des Ching (1st equal handicap aggregate, under-16 aggregate cup and best Red deer head in Nelson district). At back: Frank Large (District Association cup, range shooting for second year in succession). Bob Baigent (best wildlife photograph), and Alex Fleming (Murchison team member of winning side in the Nelson-Murchison Challenge Shield)
