An American couple, Ted and Diane Miller (front), completed an extensive tour in their single-engined aircraft while on honeymoon from California, While in Nelson they stayed with friends from back home, Anne and Warren Hayward

Mrs Peg Ellery became the first left-handed player to win the Nelson Ladies Golf Club championship when she beat veteran Joan Last at the 38th. This win adds to her previous wins in the Takaka and Motueka championships

Shirley Warren and Joyce Harper of the Nelson Club won the Nancy McCormick Memorial Salver which is competed for nationally by club foursomes. This is the first time the trophy has been won by Nelson and to accomplish it the pair were nine under the card for 36 holes. Congratulations, ladies.
