Nelson Third in S.I. Basketball

Nelson made too many errors and could not match Canterbury's speed in their game to decide second place in the South Island men's basketball championship at Stoke. Canterbury won 109-50. Otago had earlier beaten Canterbury 81-76 in a thrilling game which virtually decided the championship. Southland, beaten in every game, was fourth. This was Otago's eleventh consecutive win in the event.
