Buccaneers Thumped by Nelson Bays

In their first representative trial, Nelson Bays showed flairs of exciting vigour and dash to trounce Buccaneers 24-3 at Rugby Park, Motueka. Buccaneers, led by former All Black captain Brian Lochore did not click and most of the exciting phases were produced by Nelson Bays. After this heartening display Nelson Bays were overhauled by West Coast in their Queen's Birthday weekend match and beaten 15-14. Amends were made for this defeat with a 40-3 win over Buller. West Coast also beat Buller, 25-20, so (on paper at least) Nelson Bays should manage to repel Seddon Shield challenges from these unions.

Guess who is going to take that line-out ball with both hands and calmly feed it to his halfback? That's right - the most experienced man on the field - Brian Lochore
