The Best Of The Bowlers
Well, bowling is over for another year. The presentation of trophies which marked the close of the season was made by Nelson centre president, Doug Johnson.
John O'Kane, Nelson, champion of champions singles and open singles
Winners of the champion of champions fours were Lyell Winter, George Woolf, Dick Giles and John Allan (absent) of Pohara
Ben Brickman, Nelson, skipped the winning open triples
Don Carter, with Bob Wadsworth (absent) won the senior pairs for Stoke
Woodrow Wilson and Frederick Douglas, Tahunanui, won the champion of champions junior pairs
The handsome Wadsworth Trophy, competed for between Nelson and Marlborough, was won by Nelson in the inaugural tournament. Centre president Doug Johnson and secretary Karl Wilkens hold the trophy. It is also available as a punch bowl at the weddings of sons and daughters of bowlers
Mr F. E. M. Boulton, president of the Nelson club and Mr A. Smith, Maitai president, with the pennants their clubs won
