Welcome To National Tea

Nelson was the venue for this year's National Tea meeting of the New Zealand Cornish Association. The tasty cakes and pasties of Cornwell were popular, as was the entertainment which followed.

We were not sure who enjoyed the national dancing most, the dancers or the audience

Some pleasant entertainment was provided by well-known member of the operatic society Ron Mc Dougall, Nelson, and pianist Mrs O. Boyce.

Those heavy cakes look nice. Mrs J. Anderson of Nelson thought so too

Among the guests were Mr and Mrs R. Sixtus, Nelson

×

Mrs Helga Watts seems to be enjoying a joke from Mr W. Hawke. Both are from Nelson

Peter Remnant and Adrienne Growcott look happy

In attendance was a former teacher at Nelson College for Girls', Miss Francesca Menzies, who is now the association secretary in Hawkes Bay. With her are the Taranaki president George Morgan, and Vic Hocking, the Nelson president and new national secretary

Younger people at the tea included Pam Whear (Christchurch), Sue Hocking (Nelson), Anne Whear, Janet Sigglekow and Linda Hocking (Nelson)

Helga Watts gave a wonderful performance on the Austrian Zither and we took a couple of photographs of her. A beautiful smile each time, but also closed eyes

Mr and Mrs C. Trevelyan (Eketahuna) and Mrs J. Hocking (Nelson) enjoyed the programme
