Third Time Lucky

Popular Easter Fours

Reg Morrison's Tawa Services four made no bones about its win in the 1971 Nelson Easter bowling tournament. This was the third time the team gained a place in the final and not even a stubborn Nelson four, skipped by Frank Hobern, could prevent its first outright win. Morrison beat Hobern 17-15.

Morrison and Karl Wilkens, Maitai, shared the trophy in 1969 after rain disrupted the final, and last year Frank Oakly, Maitai, beat Morrison in the final.

This tournament is one of the most popular on the Nelson Centre's calendar and most visiting fours indicated they would be starters again.
