"Chase Me Charlie"

The Nelson Repertory Society's next production "Chase Me Charlie" should be entertaining if rehearsals are any indication.

It revolves around the efforts of Lord George and his wife, Lady Emmeline, to return the family fortune, all in diamonds, to their impoverished great-nephew and niece. What's strange about that?

You see George and Emmeline are deceased but have gained leave of absence from Up There for their task. George died when chasing burglars who swiped the diamonds (he fell into a lily pond). Emmeline lit a match at the wrong time and blew herself up. Charlie, by the way, is a goldfish.

Crazy, eh? The play is written and produced by Joyce Rowland. (Note: Ashley Wells has retired from the play and Lindsey Perigo, originally cast as the policeman, is now playing Gerald, the young Lord Trentham).

Season opens on April 17.

Crime does not pay and this cop has arrived at the right time. Policeman (Lindsey Perigo) points an accusing finger. Beside him are Hyasinth (Carol Peters) and Susan (Janet Coote). On the settee are Doris (Belle Walls) and Henry (Peter Ballock), one of the burglars. Sitting in the chair is another burglar, Fred (Steve Rowland). Solly Bechenstein (Ian Findlay) is supported by Gerald (Ashley Wells)
