Remember: Eight–Double Six–Eight–Five

One of the popular attractions of Golden Bay, these long-finned eels are regular summer visitors to a small section of the Anatoki River near Takaka, and are reputed to have been making friends with local residents for more than 50 years. Here Miss E. McCallum who owns a farmhouse nearby, is seen feeding them; and getting a free feed, as every eel knows, is a very good reason for being friendly.
