Mr and Mrs John Sharplin, of Nile Avenue, who were married in Staveley in 1911, recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. With them is Mrs Sharplin's 92-year-old mother, Mrs E. A. Timpson, who flew up from Christchurch for the celebrations.


Two others to celebrate golden wedding anniversaries recently were Mr and Mrs Roy Fowler, of Riwaka. Descendants of some of the district's pioneers, Mr and Mrs Fowler are seen here with some of the immediate family at the celebrations.
