Inter-Island Hockey

The purist would have found much to fault in the quality of the hockey played by North Island and South Island minor associations' teams in Nelson, but there were many bright passages and some excellent individual performances. This match also served as a trial to select a New Zealand minor associations' team to tour Queensland. For the record, North won 4-2. But a win for North seemed to have little bearing on the composition of this team. Nine of the South Island team - including all five Nelson trialists - were selected for the 14-man touring team.

The camera lies - this is not a confrontation between Dave Honey and Nev Adams, merely a confusion of arms and legs as they brake quickly (Barry Avery is in the background).
