To evaluate the efficiency of the drug bunamidine in the control of hydatids, the Waimea County Council, at the request of the National Hydatids Council, has been stripdosing dogs in the county with the drug arecoline. This drug, a purger, was used in the county until four years ago when it switched to bunamidine and farm dosing. The county is the only authority in New Zealand to be using bunamidine under field conditions. The results of the tests are expected to be made known after the testing of the whole county and boroughs in the area have been completed. In this pic, taken at Wai-iti, county hydatids officer, Jim Kinghorn, assisted by national council field officer, Keiss Kasper, of Gisborne, are dosing dogs.
