Miles For Millions

Hundreds of men, women, teenagers and children took to their heels (and toes) to raise money for the "Youth Against Hunger" campaign. Commencing from Richmond and from Nelson, 332 walkers travelled 4865 on their tootsies to raise $2613 for the project.

This large group of Richmond walkers travels along The Ridgeway, Nelson-bound.

Taking their time but clocking up the miles all the same are Raewyn Borlase, Janice Steans and Felicity Bayley.

Some of the boys who walked: Roger Martin. Joe Helm, Errol Shaw.

Richmond's Mayor, Mr Muir McGlashen, enjoys a sit down and a cuppa before returning to Richmond.

Ian Watson and Betty Frater found that holding hands made the trip much nicer.

Telea Tupu, of Western Samoa, gets a hand with his-pack from Judy Beere.

These two Trafalgar Harrier Club members, John Lynes and Tim Reeve, ran the distance.

At the refreshment stall at Beatson's Road, Jane Kersley gets a drink from' Beryl Pain, a stamp from Denise Hackwell and smiles from St John's man Robert Main and Linda Paine.

Robyn and Murray Marshall, Richmond, are weary (or wary?).

Another big Richmond group on the way to Nelson.
