21st Highland Ball

To celebrate the coming of age of the annual ball of the Nelson Highland Pipe Band, a big crowd attended the function in the Stoke Hall. A feature of the ball was a "Highland Queen" contest. It was won by Helen Ilton (above centre). Others in the picture were runners-up, Marie Wagner and Shirley Davis, and the girls' partners, Gordon Wagner, Tom MacKay and Brian Phillips
