Art Above You
Most of us are so busy with our everyday affairs that we seldom lift our eyes above the horizontal when we're walking through the business centre of Nelson. Yet, all around us, are some wonderful examples of the stonemasons' and old builders' arts. Some of the parapet and building embellishments are intricate and finely made. We've photographed a few for you. Undoubtedly the best is the one above, atop the A.M.P. building.

The delicate tracery on the Louis Kerr building
The former Self Help building had its share of decorations
Over the entrance of Wright Stephenson's was some fine tracery
Ever noticed the kiwi above the shop occupied by Furniture Traders in Hardv Street.

Baird' s building did not lack decorative stone work.
