A second attempt to launch the new submarine sewer outfall was thwarted by the tide recently, but on the third attempt, with the tide at a spring peak, the outfall was launched without any major problem - surely a triumph for the engineers and contractors who were making engineering history in this launching. At left, the 1500ft pipeline moves slowly towards the portal through the Boulder Bank and, below, the nose cone of the pipeline reaches the portal.
