Roving Camera
In most places a 30ft whale wouldn't be very welcome, but members of the Nelson Lions Club are certain that this whale is going to give a lot of children using the Lions' playground at the beach, a lot of pleasure. The steel framework was made in Nelson. It will be covered in netting and concrete-plastered. The cost will be about $500.
Leaving Nelson on return to her home at Kaitaia is Rosemary McPherson, a young lady who picked on a novel way of seeing New Zealand. Rosemary had travelled about 1500 miles on horseback over the North Island and as far as Nelson, before she had to return home for a spell. She plans to return in December to resume her long ride around the South Island. With her is keen Nelson horsewoman, Diane McKay, with whom she stayed in Nelson.
It's fairly obvious, from the very healthy look of this shrubbery growing from a chimney pot of a building in Trafalgar Street, that the building is either centrally heated or very cold. One thing's for sure - there has been no smoke coming from that chimney for a long time.
A holiday occupation for Pauline Howard and Mary and Karen Hodge is taking the goat, Barry (we're a little mortified) for a walk.
