A Cornishman's Tea

When the haggis arrives the Scots make a great ceremony of piping the steaming beast-ie in. Cornishmen and women are just as fond of their Cornish pasties as the Scots their haggis, but the arrival of the pasties at the national tea of the Cornish Society in Nelson passed almost unnoticed. But oh, with what fervour and exclamations of delight the pastie-hungry Cornishmen fall upon these delectable morsels. The tea, held in Nelson, was organised by the Nelson branch of the society, and brought visitors from many parts of New Zealand to Nelson for the function.

The pasties (one is big enough as a whole meal) are introduced by Ted Courtney and John Thomson.

Enjoying the main course are Susan Hocking, Janet Sigglekow and Pam Whear.

Time, also, for a good chat, for Lillian Baker (Oamaru), Dick Raine, Lou Cashmore and Katharine Blowes, all of Nelson.
