Easter Bowls Tourney

This year's Easter fours bowling tournament could hardly be called a great success. The entries were as large as ever and the greens were in beautiful order, but oh, the weather! Rain created many problems for the organisers and completely disrupted the finals. As a result, the fours of Reg Morrison (Tawa Services) and Karl Wil-kens (Maitai) were declared joint winners, and a coin was tossed to see who would win the first place prizes (Maitai won).

Rain for the final. Shortly after this picture was taken the final got under way and Maitai held a 5-2 lead after six ends before the rain came down in bucketsful.

Leon Garguilo is very happy with Karl Wilkens's bowl, but Bert McCardle is dubious.
