The Nelson branch of the S.I.M.U. has a new manager. It's Ken Merrett, seen here with wife Elizabeth, and children Richard, Nigel, Allan and Linda. Ken came to Nelson from Timaru, and before that he was stationed in Chrlstchurch.

Leaving the S.I.M.U. on two years' leave of absence is senior assessor, Allen Daniell. Allen is off to Australia for a couple of years. He will be missed by the Nelson Motor Cycle Club whose treasurer he is.

Another leaving Nelson, for a time at least, is Lorraine Newlett, a clerk on the staff of the Ministry of Works. Lorraine has been transferred on promotion to the Hamilton office of the department. She, also, will be missed by the Nelson Repertory and Operatic societies and by the Scots indoor basketball team.

Newly arrived in Nelson is the family of the Rev Ray Upton and his wife, Jean. They come from Waihi, Bay of Plenty. Mr Upton is the new minister of the Stoke Baptist Church. The children are David, Carolyn, James (back) and Jeanette.

To Nelson from Southland (Gore, specifically) have come Les and May Wyber to retire. Standing with them is a visitor to Nelson, Stan Johnston, of Rangiora.

The new headmaster of Hira School is Graeme Bowden, who, with his wife Kathryn and children Christine, Debbie and Marcia, have come from Marshlands, Blenheim.

Leaving Nelson are Frank and Melody Norris and children Tracy and Michelle. Frank, a member of the staff of State Insurance Office in Nelson, has been transferred to Wellington on promotion.

Mr Herb Morris, soil conservator with the Nelson Catchment Board for the last five years, has accepted a position as district soil conservator with the Ministry of Works, Wellington. With him, of course, will go wife Jan and children Stephanie, Lynda and Judith.
