Tag Wrestling

Wrestling made a sizzling come-back to Gisborne recently, after three years' absence, when four out-size matmen gasped, grunted, groaned, grimaced, and lastly, grappled their way through an eight-round international heavyweight tag wrestling bout in the Opera House.

Somewhat overshadowed by the local amateurs who preceded them on the programme, the professionals, nevertheless, kept the large crowd highly amused throughout the bout, which ended in a free-for-all involving two buckets of water, a member of the audience, a referee, and of course, the four wrestlers.

The programme was sponsored by the Jaycees, and boosted their Heni Materoa Children's Home holiday project to the extent of £10O.
