St. John Cadet Championships
Five St. John Ambulance cadet teams competed In the annual Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay-East Coast inter-divisional cadet competition at the St. Johns Ambulance Hall in Gisborne.
The competition included first aid stretcher work and N.C.O. drill instruction.
Third placegetter in the Bardon Cup for first aid stretcher work was Kevin Allan's team. Watching them lift their patient from the stretcher are Dr J. Beedie, Cadet Officer G. How Chow, Mr Andrews (H.B.), Cadet Officer Chris Hamblyn (Auck), and an Auckland cadet.

Competing in the senior N.C.O. drill competition for the Taylor Cup is a Hawkes Bay sergeant. Judging him is Mr Taylor (H.B.) as he issues orders to a Red Cross drill team.
