Building Projects

Building construction in Gisborne continues at a fast pace, vita several handsome new buildings rapidly nearing completion, and others pushing their shapes into the ever-changing city sky-line.

Work on the new courthouse has finally begun, with the laying of its foundations, while alongside of it, the new telephone exchange continues (to grow in sizable proportions. Reconstruction of the Columbine Hosiery Factory, which was partially destroyed by fire recently, is progressing rapidly.

The City Council's massive water reservoir overlooking the city on Nobhill suffered a sad blow when the scaffolding for its sides was completely wrecked by gale force winds, delaying its completion by an estimated two months.
