Indoor Soccer

A novel form of soccer made its debut in Gisborne recently when the Gisborne Citizens' Boys' Club staged the first of its weekly indoor soccer tournaments at the Army Hall.

Erected around the perimeter of the playing area was a wooden fence, which protected the spectators from a straying ball, and which was often used to advantage by the players with a ricocheting ball.

Teams from all the major soccer clubs and from a rugby club were competing in the tournament which was run as a knockout competition, and on this occasion, was won by the Thistle A team.
