Pictures From The Past

Mr J. H. Hewitson of Auckland, who was bred and lived in Gis-borne for 28 years, made available these pictures of early Gisborne soccer teams for this month's page of Pictures from the Past.

The first Gisborne Rep. soccer team which defeated Hawkes Bay on Tucker's Paddock in August, 1912. About 2000 spectators turned out to see the game, more out of curiosity to see the new "round ball" game. P.B. won 4 nil. The team, back row: Ginger Statham, Arthur Hoare, A. Ready, Tiny Crighton, A.
