"Kriegie Kapers"

One of the closest bonds linking ex-servicemen of World War 11 is that which exists between the former Prisoners of War. Accordingly, when a contingent from Napier visited Gisborne recently, they met with a vociferous welcome from local "kriegies", three of whom represented Herr Adolph himself, his bodyguard (firing a gun with a very loud bang), and a bearded Russian prisoner.

When the shouting and tumult of welcome had died away, all hands took part in a cricket game which somehow ended in a draw.
