Father Christmas Visit.

When Gisborne members of the Electrical Institute held their Christmas Party, guess who turned up to distribute presents to the children? Yes, it was none other than Father Christmas, and the cameraman's flashlight was so strong, he had to wear dark glasses.

Noel Thomson, son of Mr and Mrs T. Thomson, 55 Collins St., was selected recently as a member of the five-man N.Z. representative roller hockey team.

Football season is almost here again. Last season, the Tokomaru Bay Rugby Football Club finished up with a nice collection of cups, here shown on display at the new bar of the Te Puka Hotel. Coach for the club was C. W. Calder

The two winning teams in the Gisborne Rowing Club's races held on the Waimata and Turanganui Rivers on a recent Saturday afternoon. Run over the full mile, and on a small handicap basis, the races were held as a trial for the teams competing at the Lake Karapiro regatta. M. Jones's novice four which won the first race. Well known Gisborne racing motorcyclist, Hink Healey, pictured at a speed in excess of 120 miles per hour on his 350cc 7R. A.J.S. racing 'bike. Hink, who has had considerable success on this machine, was trying out the streamlined fibreglass shell which he claims increases his speed by 8%.

When drain-layers broke a small branch pipe off the water supply main in Tyndall Road a 70ft high jet of water resulted.
