"Please To Remember...."

Not that there is much show of forgetting the Fifth of November in Gisborne. Fireworks went up in price (and smoke), and there wss no big display at waikanae Beach as in other years, but nevertheless poor old Guy Fawkes wasn't forgotten. His name and fame were remembered in many a blazing bonfire and soaring rocket, not to overlook the ubiquitous cracker.

The main organised celebration was in the Mangapapa Domain, where crowds gathered and a large fire was one of the main attractions. As usual, there was also a ring of bonfires round the bay.
