Children of Waipiro Bay School came to town one day last week and had a good look round town, at institutions and industries in the city. Some of them had never been to Gisborne before.

Mutton for Japan was loaded into wagons at Gisborne recently for loading at Napier...something that will not be necessary when Gisborne gets an overseas port.

Wagon inscription for Gisborne mutton bound for Japan shows that it was to be loaded aboard the Canterbury Star at Port Aruhiri, destination Osaka. Shipment is another indication that N.Z. meat trade with Japan is growing.

Yacht Tuarangi, from Invercarglil, was a recent visitor to Gisborne.

This is the Oddity of the Month. A Gisborne resident purchased two jerseys, one 58" and the other 40". The larger jersey was accidentally left in the washing machine for 2½ hours. This is how they look now....the 38" jersey is on the left, and what is left of the 40" jersey is on the right.
