High School Rectory Jubilee

Close on 200 men of all ages sat down to a sumptuous dinner at the Gisborne High School assembly hall last Friday evening. For them it was a notable occasion....the 50th anniversary re-union of boarders at the Rectory, the boarding establishment attached to the school.

Since it was opened in 1910, about 1000 boys, pupils of the school from out-of-town districts, have boarded at the Rectory. Living together, they naturally established close ties and formed lasting friendships. Many of these were renewed at the dinner, when reminiscences of schoolday pranks and incidents formed a major part of the evening's enjoyment.

A welcome to past boarders was extended by the chairman of the organising committee, Mr T. R. Frazer, and a number of toasts were honoured.
