Pomare and Charlie Kutia, two of the four sons of the late Mr and Mrs Tuara Kutia, of Kuratau, Mangaheia. The other brothers, Victor and Haapi, were both killed in the Tunisian campaign. Better known as "Pom", Pomare was a Maori All Black to Fiji in 1935. He was with the Battalion in Greece and Crete, and still carries a piece of shell in one arm.

The oldest woman living in Tolaga Bay is Mrs M. (Tutu) Rangiuia, who is over 90, and is pictured here with a brother, the Rev. W. Rangi, who recently retired at Ruatoki. He was padre to the 28th Maori Battalion in World War II.

Happy, smiling members of Ngati-Patuwhare, gathered at the marae, Rawheoro, Hauiti, to celebrate the 7th birthday of Nepia Jones, who is fifth from left in the front row. He is the eldest son of Mr & the late Mrs Noble Jones.
