A new bulldozer and refuse collection vehicle have greatly facilitated the collection and disposal of rubbish in Gisborne City.

The bulldozer, which replaced the old one recently, is an International Drott model fitted with a "tractorvision" cab and a special scoop.

Of revolutionary design for this district, the collection vehicle consists of a "compressmobile" mounted on a four ton truck. Features of the vehicle are low loading and the fully enclosed unit which compresses 20 cubic yards of rubbish to 12 cubic yards.
