The most successful roller hockey tournament yet to be held in Gisborne was played in fine weather at the Alfred Cox Memorial Park rink during Queen's Birthday weekend.

Eight teams competed, two from Gisborne, two from Hastings, and one each from Napier, Thames, Nelson and Petone.

Petone, the N.Z. champions, won the tournament, with Gisborne A and Napier in second place.
