Whisky In The Bar

Spectators at the rodeo the other day were amused during the interval by the antics of two clowns and a pony. For the record, let it be known that the pony's name is Whisky, and he's a particular favourite of his owner, Mr Joe Sullivan, mine host at the Waerenga-a-hika Hotel. An argument arose the other day about how civilised Whisky was, whereupon Joe asserted that he was well-mannered enough to be ridden inside, even inside the bar. To prove the point, he saddied Whisky there and then, mounted him, and made a tour of the room, including a visit behind the bar, where Whisky took what looked like an intelligent interest in the various wares on sale, but didn't live up to his name by having one on the house.

The pictures prove that Whisky is a well-behaved pony, and a clever one, so don't be surprised if next time you stop Tor one at Waerenga-a-hika, you get served by a pony, perhaps with a "pony". You can not only get a short snort there, you can hear one if Whisky's behind the bar.

With a horse behind the bar, there's not much room to serve the customers.
