From Brad Patterson, Makaraka, comes this picture of the freak steer from Tauranga owned by former All Black A. Strang. Named "Sooky", it stands more than six feet high and weighs 27½ cwt. It is said to be the largest steer in the Southern Hemisphere.

From Mrs Roberts, 393 Childers Road, this picture taken on a North Island farm shows to what extent nature can play tricks. This is an eight-legged Iamb with only one head.

A little tomato plant peeped out from under the verandah at the home of Mrs E. H. Hindman, Ngatapa, early this summer. Left to itself, it grew into this monster more than six feet high, and yielded 13 lbs of fruit.
