The City Council must be breaking records for the number of decisions made which later have to be reversed in the face of strong public opinion. Perhaps the Council should have appointed the Public Relations Officer. Latest was a decision to root out the garden plots in the botanical gardens and convert all to lawn. In a flying start, trucks dumped spoil (left) in the gardens, but an injunction taken out by residents brought the move to a halt.

Hank Healey, who hasn't competed in motor-cycle races for six years, resumed last Saturday to race this 1960 model 350 c.c. machine at Mangere in the N. Z. T. T. championships. Owned by Gisborne Motorcycles Ltd., it can do 130 m. p. h. Hank scored two 5ths, and Alan Moore two 3rds, out of fields of 38.
