Fair Sex Win
The indoor bowls season, which has kept hundreds of Gisborne enthusiasts occupied for the winter months, finished recently when the champion fours from each club competed for the champion of champions title.
Just to show how thoroughly and ably women have taken to the game, the title was won by an all-woman team from the Poverty Bay Club, who defeated a Makaraka four in the final.
Fours winners: Mesdames M. Thompson (s), M. Harper, D. Rykers, and O. Barnett. They won by a good margin.
Runners-up from Makaraka: T. Baty (s), Mrs Baty, W. Beets, and J. O'Donnell.
Winners of the Doubles Championship were Mr and Mrs C. Lloyd, from the Watersiders Club.
Runners-up for the Doubles: Mr and Mrs W. Legg from the Kaiti Club.
September 24 also saw the new R. S. A. Bowling Club hall at Kaiti in use for the first time.
(NOTE: The singles title was won by Mr Bede McLoughlin, whose picture we have yet to take).
