Poultry Show
There were 950 entries, or 340 more than the previous record, for the annual show of the Poverty Bay Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Show in the Army Hall.
Nine New Zealand and 15 North Island championship awards were competed for, and the entries included birds from all parts of New Zealand.
Mrs Browning, wife of the club secretary, with F. Ferris's Blue Barred Pigeon, judged Best Homer in Show.
"Please, Mr Photographer, Your Flashlight's Blinding Me".....S.F. Bliss's Black Red Cockerel....Best Young Game Bird in the Show.
W. N. Glover's Rhode Island Red pullet, Best in Show.
E. C. Dudding's Best Rhode Island Red Cockerel in Show.
C. E. Wells's Partridge Hen: Best Game Bird in Show.
