For The Ladies

Gilding the lily has ever been the prerogative of the fair sex, bless 'em, and when we called at the War Memorial Hall the other evening, the gilding was going on with a vengeance. Occasion was a demonstration of the Wella products, Effecton, Wellaton, and Koleston, distributed in New Zealand by Sonata Laboratories. These products do things for your hair, ladies, and especially for the colour of it.

For the results, which unfortunately don't show the beautiful tinting, see next page.

So much for the commercial. Our camera found Mr Des Ince at the microphone, as in the picture above, and Mrs Nicholls (from Pio Pio) and Mr Tom Lyle demonstrating on a number of volunteers. Miss Hammond was also on the job. The appreciative audience consisted mainly of young ladies from the various salons of the city.

The models were really getting the works, like Mrs Pam Bramwell in the expert hands of Mrs Nicholls.

Young ladies, wearing latest coiffures, watch demonstrations intently.

There were eight models for the demonstrations, from Gisborne and Wairoa. Expert hands soon had them looking any old how at all, as the mechanics of hair styling and tinting proceeded. About this stage our photographer got mixed up with a stock agents' smoke concert in an adjacent room and only came back in time to eat a bite of supper and snap the finale. What a transformation! Here are the eight in all their crowning glory.......
