Flying Sisters from Gisborne

×

This is probably something of a record--three sisters who are all air hostesses. They are the Jackson sisters.....Claudette, Iona, and Leonora, daughters of Mr and Mrs W. G. Jackson, Bushmere Road, Gisborne.

And this young lady, Muriel Norrie, of Auckland, has made history in another way. She was the first air hostess to make a scheduled flight to Gisborne, on Sunday of last week. Hostess service has been extended by N.A.C. to include Gisborne flights, beginning with the Sunday Services.

Bridge In Splints
The old highway bridge across the Waiapu River near Ruatoria probably has more Bailey "splints" than any other bridge in the country. It is to be replaced soon by a modern structure two miles downstream, after which all main-route traffic will pass through Ruatoria township. (Picture, Eastland).
