Convalescent Home Opened

The new Morris Convalescent Home, attractively placed on an elevated section by the Waimata River, with access from Cheeseman Road, was officially opened last month by Mr B. G. Morris. The construction of the home was made possible by a generous monetary gift by the late Mr C. J. Morris, aided by a substantial Government subsidy.

His father, said Mr Morris, had been a constant visitor to patients in Cook Hospital, and had felt that there was a great need for a half-way house between the hospital and the patients' return to normal life.

The home, the only one of its kind in the Dominion, will fill this need in Gisborne.

The land on which the home stands was donated by Mrs T. Adair.
