The Gals are Good

Anybody who turned out to see the basketball girls play a Rugby football match at Barry Park in aid of the Maori Queen in the Basketball Queen Carnival certainly was well repaid. Given plenty of rope by the referee (Tex Binnie). the girls responded with a fast and entertaining display, if a somewhat unorthodox one. They threw the ball about in approved manner, and had the sideline crowd on its collective toes every few minutes of the game. The Te Karaka girls emerged the victors over the Gisborne girls by 9 points to 6.
