Roving Camera

Gisborne people are getting accustomed to seeing prefabricated steel girders and trusses going through their streets, but this time the sight was a little more extraordinary than usual. When Krebs Ltd. had to get some 60ft roof trusses from their premises in Gladstone Road to O'Meara Ltd's new building in Pitt Street, they hoisted them aboard two Clare & Clare trucks, one going backwards, with a jinker unit in between.

Pictures above show the set-up, and also some of the difficulties in turning from Cobden Street into Kahutia Street.

Wainui Road wag, tired of having his street filled with heaps of earth from sewer trench, erected humorous sign which reads: "Wainui Gorge. Beware... Hostile Inhabitants. Length... Months!"

Here's an unusual visitor, it's an albatross, blown inland by a storm in. January. Peter Jelbert is holding the bird in this picture taken on Black Bros. station at Nuhaka. Peter later released the bird on Nuhaka beach. It walked to the water's edge and swam out to sea.
