Anzac Day

There was no indication at this year's Anzac Service in Gisborne of any lessening in the district's Tribute to the men who died in war to preserve freedom.

On the contrary, the district's determination to keep the solemn promise, "We will remember them", was in all ways apparent in the numbers who turned out for the annual service on the banks of the Turanganui River.

Swelling the ranks of those on parade was a smart detachment from Hmnzs Kaniere, which was then in port.
