Dawn Parade

×

In the chilly dawn of St. George's Day, Scouts and Cubs of Gisborne troops gathered in the lookout at Kaiti Hill to honour their patron saint. Flags were hoisted and saluted and a brief service held.

Then all present, led by District Commissioner G. Elder
stood in silence as a mark of respect for the late Mr T. Baker, a former district officer, whose death had occurred a few days earlier.

×

Mr Elder presented the medal of Merit to one of the district's most useful and faithful scouters, Mr S. G. Lewis, whose association with scouting in Gisborne goes back to 1922.
