Award for Gallantry
Last year, when Margaret was a member of the Te Karaka Company, she saved a nine-year-old boy from drowning when swimming in the Te Karaka quarry. At that time she had only just learned how to dog-paddle.

Eleven-year-old Margaret Reeves, a member of the Turanganui Company of Girl Guides, is seen at left receiving the Guide Gilt Cross, awarded for gallantry. The award is being made by Mr W. G. Shiach, surgeon superintendent of Cook Hospital, and with him is the District Commissioner of Guides, Mrs E. W. Johnson.
