This was a case of beginner's luck for P. Cribb, of Gisborne. On his first time out big game fishing, he caught this 265lb swordfish.

"It was like having fairies in the garden," writes Mrs L. Wilson, of 26 McDonald Street, describing how the neighbourhood children came to play with her children during the holidays. Happy little picture was taken by the Wilson fern house.

Mrs T. W. McCreedy, 594 Gladstone Road, sends in this print of her lily-pond, which comprises two sets of discarded wash-tubs, Suitably framed in ferns, the tubs make an ideal lily-pond. When this picture was taken the lilies were in full bloom.

The fishing was very chancy this summer, but by the look of these pics from Dorothy Glynan, Wairoa, it wasn't so bad down Mahia way. Jack Welch (Marton), George McNabb, and Bill and Stan Clark (Wairoa) with the day's catch.
