Foundation Stone Laid

The foundation of the new Marist Brothers' college, to be known as the Edward Campion post-primary school for boys, was blessed last weekend by the Bishop of Auckland, the Most Rev. J. M. Liston, before a large attendance of Catholics and the public. Edward Campion was a brilliant scholar and a martyr for the faith in "the days of Tudor persecution.

The present stage of building, which includes school buildings and the Brothers' residence, is being erected at a cost of £100,000. It is part of a long-range project on the site in upper Gladstone Road just outside the city boundary.
